Lenin

We were able to see Lenin yesterday in all his waxy glory. It really is a strand experience to experience what was near religious reverence toward a communist leader in modern Russia. They only let in a couple of people at a time, and there were military guards all along the journey into the granite tomb. We we’re not allowed to stop, the soldiers would snap their fingers at you if you tried.

Really cool, but not what I expected in modern Russia. I wonder what Lenin thinks about the HUGE mall on one side of the square? What was once the state store (where people waited in lines for hours for drab food) is now a swanky mall with high priced clothes. Lenin is looking right at it…must make him squirm…
